Fruiting Bodies

Fruiting Bodies is an experiment in fungal sociality, exploring the possibilities of mushroom cloning, remediation and social exchange through collaborative experience and community science. The project launched with a workshop at GenSpace in Brooklyn, NY where participants created agar-based sculptures modeled from chosen body parts. The sculptures were inoculated via oyster fungi with the intention of burying the fruiting bodies* in a local disturbed site in need of mycoremediation in Sunset Park, Brooklyn.

As fruiting bodies grow a latent network of human and nonhuman relations to emerge. In collaboration with Lucia Monge and Chloe Zimmerman
